NEW YORK, NY and LITTLE ROCK, AR (April 29, 2009): Legendary Stax Records Chairman and owner, and former Motown Records President Al Bell was the featured guest lecturer Friday, April 24 at the Clive Davis Department of Recorded Music at New York University’s Tisch School of The Arts. Mr. Bell’s presentation focused on his business relationship and ongoing close friendship with Mr. Davis, with whom he partnered on a distribution partnership with CBS Records in the early 1970s. He also addressed the evolution and growth of Soul music in the ‘60s and ‘70s, and the contributions it made to the artistic, political, economic, and cultural climate that defined the U.S. at the time.
